Starter motor inspection
In general, my starter motor looked like it was in OK condition. As I had not run this engine before, I wasn’t 100% positive the starter motor was working and as it was winter, I decided to give it the once over. I have a new theory now: if it is working, leave it alone. If you don’t know if it is working, leave it alone.
The philips bolts on the sides seem to be threadlocked in place and do not come out readily. If you try to remove them with a standard screwdriver, they will strip. I think they need an air wrench to remove. You can remove the end cap
